Luboš Andršt Blues Band Performs in Hong Kong to Highlight Czech EU Presidency

A Czech guitar icon, Luboš Andršt and his Blues band have been invited by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic to perform for the first time in Hong Kong at a special concert organized on the occasion of the Czech EU Presidency.

On the ocasion of Czech Presidency of the European Union, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong organized a special concert of Luboš Andršt and his Blues Band. The event, which was held at the Grapa´s Cellar, was attended by 200 guests representing the Hong Kong Government, Hong Kong and international business associations, academia, consular corps and the Czech community in Hong Kong.

"The Czech Republic is famous thanks to its classical music. But we have decided to bring down another barrier and introduce to the Hong Kong audience another great musician representing blues and jazz this time", said Consul General Rudolf Hykl in his speech before the concert.

Drawing most of his inspiration from blues and jazz, Czech guitarist and composer Luboš Andršt is a versatile musician. His guitar mastery is documented in over 37 albums, which showcase more than 80 of his original compositions.

Despite difficulties endured in an effort to perform both rock and jazz under the totalitarian regime of his youth, Luboš Andršt persevered to follow his heart for more than 30 years, still keeping true to his ideals in support of artistic freedom.

Luboš Andršt Blues Band line-up consists of Luboš Andršt - guitar, Jan Holeček -vocal and keyboards, Zdeněk Tichota - bass and Pavel Razím - drums.
