New Chance to Acquire Citizenship by Declaration Ends by 1 January 2015

The possibility to acquire the Czech citizenship by declaration, offered by the new Czech Nationality Act to persons born of Czechoslovak parents abroad between 1949 and 1969 will end by 1 January 2015.
The Czech Nationality Act (No. 186/2013), in effect from 1 January 2014, offers to persons born outside Czechoslovakia between 1 October 1949 and 7 May 1969 to Czechoslovak nationals who became or would have become Czech nationals on 1 January 1969 the possibility to acquire the citizenship by declaration. However, the declaration must be presented before 1 January 2015.
