J. S. Pandoyoputro of the Malang Diocese. The Infant Jesus is displayed at the Good Shepherd Church in Batu, East Java.

On Sunday, 7th September 2014, father Anastasio Roggero of Prague’s Church of Our Lady of Victory, presented a consecrated copy of the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague to the Bishop of Diocese of Malang H. J. S. Pandoyoputro. The ceremonial presentation took place in the city of Batu (East Java) in the presence of several hundred of local citizens, the representatives of the city as well as of the embassies of both countries. Indonesia is the fourth country in Asia, after India, the Philippines, and Singapore, where the copy of the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague has been presented.

The Christian believers together with numerous local citizens of different faiths took part in the ceremony, through which the Infant Jesus of Prague became a symbol of peaceful coexistence of various faiths in this part of Indonesia. It also represents a new link between the Czech Republic and Indonesia. The statue of the Infant Jesus is housed on the grounds of the church Paroki Gembala Baik, which were especially designed for this purpose. The representatives of the city expect that the statue of the Infant Jesus will bring to the already popular tourist city of Batu pilgrims from all over the archipelago.
