PRESS RELEASE
The Friends of the Bohemian National Cemetery, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, will sponsor 2 - 2-hour tours at the Cemetery on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m. The Bohemian National Cemetery is located at 5255 N. Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL, and was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.
10 a.m. TOUR—
Albert Walavich, tour guide and historian, shall discuss the founding of the Cemetery and its unusual features. Highlights featured in the tour will be Mayor Anton Cermak’s history and mausoleum; and the art deco monuments and their cultural, social, and historical significance.
1 p.m. TOUR—
1919 Columbarium tour highlighting the symbols, decorations and craftsmanship of the indoor spaces conducted by docent guides.
Refreshments shall be served at the Victorian Gatehouse after the tour.
Cost of each tour -- $15- non-members; $10 – members.
Membership -- $25—individual; $20 – students & seniors; $35 – family.
