The Minister of Foreign, Lubomir Zaoralek, commenced the new academic year for the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Cernin Palace on the 3rd of October 2014. Minister Zaoralek handed certificates of completion in basic diplomatic preparation over to ten diplomats who attended the Diplomatic Academy last year. By this act, the diplomats officially finished their professional career preparation and at the same time Minister Zaoralek welcomed eight new participants for academic year 2014 – 2015.

Minister Zaoralek emphasized the meaning of the diplomatic profession while asserting Czech interests abroad in his speech to the junior diplomats. He has also emphasized the importance of handing over knowledge from more experienced colleagues. Minister Zaoralek reminded them of the importance of economic diplomacy and at the same time he mentioned the importance of cultural diplomacy in the propagation of Czech Republic’s interests abroad.

Graduates of the basic diplomatic preparation from the last academic year have already been assumed into departments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. New participants or junior diplomats are now commencing a half-year theoretic training at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This will then be followed by three practical internships. The first at a Representative office of Czech Republic abroad, the second at a Czech export company and the third in a department within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
