Minister Schwarzenberg to visit Washington, DC

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg will be visiting Washington, DC on June 1- 3, 2013.
The Minister will start his visit by giving a guest speech at the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Global Forum. He will thus join the distinguished past speakers to the AJC including, inter alia, George W. Bush and Angela Merkel.
On June 3, Minister Schwarzenberg will meet with Alan Krueger, Chairman of the US President´s Council of Economic Advisers and member of the President´s Cabinet, and with Robert Menendez, chairman of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. The Minister intends to discuss with his interlocutors current themes of the Czech-US political and economic cooperation ranging from the upcoming talks on the EU-US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership to the latest developments with respect to Syria. The Czech Republic has for nearly a year been representing American interests as US Protecting Power in Syria.
