Compatriot Education Programme

Under the Government Decree No. 262 from April 9, 2010, the Government of the Czech Republic approved the extension of the Support of Czech Cultural Heritage Abroad Programme for the following five years.

The programme is a continuation of the preceding five-year cycle (2006 – 2010). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and partially the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic partake in fulfilling its objectives.

The programme’s main focus is the support of educational activities targeted at Czech compatriots abroad (scholarships, Czech language courses, Czech language teaching courses etc.) and at the teaching of Czech language and literature abroad (lectorates at foreign universities). A relatively new component of the programme is the support of leisure-time education in Czech of pre-school and primary school children called the “Czech School Without Borders”.

The following articles describe all of the above-mentioned education opportunities in detail.
