The Center for the Study of Democracy and Culture is an independent, non-profit educational and cultural organization (think-tank) established as a civic association in 1993 in Brno. The Center was founded on the work of earlier initiatives devoted to the development of independent activities and the publication of samizdat magazines before 1989.
The main objective of the Center is to contribute to the development of democratic political culture, emphasize the irreplaceable role of Christian values, and support communication between the political and cultural sphere. In social and political terms, the Center endorses conservatively-liberal ideological positions, whereas in religious matters it prefers an open, ecumenical approach.
In cooperation with the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs - within the Transition Promotion Program, the Center for the Study of Democracy and Culture realizes projects in Ukraine. These projects focus on enhancement of civil society structures, education, and democracy promotion.
