Financial supported provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic: 510 244,- CZK
The aim of the project was to secure transfer of relevant experience related to European integration process from the part of Czech NGOs to thein Ukrainian partners, associated in a pan-Ukrainian network of pro-European NGOs which was founded in May 2006 on the initiative of the International Renaissance Foundation. This was done by means of organizing a study tour of 12 representatives of Ukrainian NGOs from various regions and oblasts of Ukraine to Prague in December 2007 where a series of meetings with their Czech NGOs counterparts was organized. Apart from this, they also met the representatives of public administration and media involved in EU affairs. Particular attention was paid to ensuring a representation of NGOs from southern and eastern Ukraine, where support for EU integration is the lowest. Based on the need analysis of Ukrainian partners, the study tour focused particularly on three priority areas: monitoring of government activities in terms of EU policies, information campaigns and educational activities related to EU issues and effective networking at European level and participation in international projects. This was a pilot initiative which should be followed by a series of actual contacts and co-operation on implementing joint projects and initiatives relating to Euroatlantic integration of Ukraine. The project was co-financed by the East East : Partnership beyond Borders programme of the Open Society Fund in Prague and International Renaissance Foundation in Kyiv.
