Czech Republic and UNESCO


Czechoslovakia was one of the founding members of UNESCO. The Czech Republic became member of UNESCO on 22 February 1993. At the 36th session of the General Conference of UNESCO the Czech Republic was elected member of the Executive Board for 2011-2015.

The work of UNESCO in the Czech Republic is carried out by the competent bodies within the Czech government, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Ministry of Culture, Ministry for Environment, Ministry of Interior, and the Czech Commission for UNESCO.
