This Thursday, March 29, 2012, the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic organizes expert discussion seminar, so-called “Round Table”, on the topic of Afghanistan. Representatives of both the civilian and military branches of the defence ministries of all Visegrad countries will gather to share information on the engagement in Afghanistan, future plans and currently debated related topics within the EU and NATO.
The main goal of the seminar, however, is to discuss possibility to coordinate more closely assistance activities of the V4 countries towards Afghanistan. Ministries of defence and armed forces of all four states engage in Afghanistan in number of projects mostly in education and training of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF). Therefore, the meeting in Prague should help bring up an overview of all activities and ways of their coordination, interconnection and further improvement. Such effort serves the purpose to promote the V4 defence cooperation while primarily making its assistance more effective and easily accessible for our partners. Afghanistan will be used as a case study for potential future “clearing house” of similar activities towards partner countries mainly from the PfP and the Eastern Partnership.
