Special Envoy for Science and Technology meets with Executive Director of nanoSpace

On 5th March, the Special Envoy for Science and Technology, Petr Kaiser, received Ing. Mgr. J. Kůs, the Executive Director of nanoSpace, the Czech nanotechnology company. Mr Kůs was interested in the possibilities the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic can offer to help nanoSpace expand its products to global markets.

The nanoSpace specializes in nanofibre products and barrier bedding covers (used for example for manufacturing the anti-allergic protective coatings for bedding or toys which provides the innovative way of protection against dust mites and their allergens). The Special Envoy informed him about the objectives and parameters of the pilot project supporting innovative small and medium businesses in the Czech Republic. The Director showed interest in the cooperation and promised to send information about the business plan of the company.

In the following discussion, Mr Kůs emphasised the importance of the nanotechnology sector which nowadays arises in the Czech Republic and which is not only about well-known Nanospider. One of the problems this sector has to face is the fact that the innovative efforts of the Czech subjects are fragmented and disunited. Companies, with only few exceptions, do not have proper development strategies. Mr Kaiser, in this context, mentioned that he attended the opening of the worldwide campaign Nafigate in Tokio. He agreed that Czech scientists dispose of considerable know-how. However, this advantage is only temporary and needs to be used in time. Nanoproducts and technologies represent significant market for the future. Mr Kůs further offered that he can map the capacities of Czech nanotechnologies in the phase of concrete products.
