Agreement between technical universities in the Czech Republic and Canada

(This article expired 18.10.2014.)

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Liberec (TUL) and Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Applied Learning (CCITAL) in Kitchener (Ontario) signed the Agreement about students exchange and research and academic cooperation in May 2013.

Two students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the TUL arrived in September 2013 for a year’s study and work programme at CCITAL in Kitchener. Two students from Canada, in return, took part in a similar exchange in Liberec. Czech and Canadian students will spend one semester studying at a partner university and second semester undertaking a professional internship in local industrial company. The agreement between the aforementioned institutions could only be achieved thanks to the great efforts of Professor Tony Martínek, graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Liberec and former Dean of the School of Engineering Technology of the Conestoga College.

The agreement builds on the “Transatlantic Exchange Partnership” which took place between 2008 – 2011, which formed a connection between three Canadian and three European universities. The TUL and the CCITAL were the coordinators of the project that enabled the study and work exchange for 7 Canadian students in Germany, France and the Czech Republic and, similarly, 7 students of mechanical engineering from the TUL at the Conestoga College, the University of Waterloo and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary.
