Press accreditations

 

Representatives of foreign media may apply for a long-term press accreditation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, for certain events need a short-term accreditation. Conditions of the application process are described below.

1) Long-term press accreditation

Representatives of foreign media may apply for the accrediation directly at the Press department of the Czech MFA, or at the Czech diplomatic mission in the country of their permanent /long-term residence.

Submitted application has to include:

  • completed Registration form (PDF, 367 KB)
  • original letter of the employer confirming the position of the applicant and requesting a long-term accreditation for her/him
  • curriculum vitae
  • 2 passport-sized photographs
  • copy of valid passport

The accreditation procedure takes 6 – 8 weeks. If the accreditation is granted, Press department issues a press card that is valid for 12 months.

Applicants who need a long-term visa to the Czech Republic (over 90 days) should consult the Consular department of the Czech diplomatic mission in the country of their permanent residence or long-term stay.

Extension of the validity of the accreditation

Journalist may apply for an extension of the validity of their accreditation at the Press department of the Czech MFA.

Submitted application has to include:

  • completed Registration form (PDF, 367 KB)
  • original letter of the employer confirming the position of the applicant and requesting a long-term accreditation for her/him
  • 2 passport-sized photographs
  • copy of valid passport

2) Short-term press accrediation

For certain events, a specific short-term accreditation of the press representatives may be required. Conditions are always specified in the event announcement (in "Události a témata").


Note: Applicants are not legaly entitled to be granted the accreditation, the accreditation is not granted automatically. Importance and the areas covered by the media are also taken into account when processing the application.
