The Czech Republic welcomes the peaceful solution to the confrontation, which resulted from the Parliamentary elections held on November 2nd, 2003. The Czech Republic values the role of President Eduard Shevarnadze.
His resignation as a reaction to the public unrest is a crucial
step to an undisturbed transfer of power in a constitutional way.
It is the belief of the Czech Republic that acting President Nino
Burdhanadze and the provisional administration will ensure the
holding of new parliamentary and presidential elections. The Czech
Republic expects this to take place at a time prescribed by the
Constitution and according to European democratic standards. The
Czech Republic hopes that all Georgian political forces will try to
find a compromise leading to peace, stability and prosperity in the
country.
