Briefing on EU – Ukraine Troika

 

An information briefing on the EU-Ukraine Troika will take place on Wednesday, 4 February 2009 at 10:30, at Czernin Palace, 5 Loretánské Square, Prague (the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs). We ask journalists to arrive at 10:15.

The briefing aims to provide the media with more detailed information on the issues to be discussed at the EU-Ukraine meeting the following day, i.e. above all:

  • EU – Ukraine relations (e.g. the Association Agreement, the Eastern Partnership)
  • Internal developments in Ukraine as well as in the EU
  • Regional and international affairs including energy

Information will be presented by Director of the European Countries Section, director of the North and East Europe Department Daniel Koštoval and Ambassador-at-Large of the Czech Republic for Energy Security Václav Bartuška. Interpreting from Czech into English will be provided.

The EU – Ukraine ministerial Troika meeting will take place on 5 February 2009 in Prague. The EU Presidency will be represented by a delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg. The EU Troika will also be represented by Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Director of the Policy Unit of the General Secretariat of the EU Council Helga Schmid. The Ukrainian delegation will be led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Volodymyr Ohryzko. You need to get accredited for this event by filling in the form on the Presidency website.
