Minister Kohout at the EU – Republic of Korea summit

 

The EU – Republic of Korea summit took place in the country’s capital Seoul. The leading themes were: strengthening the mutual EU - Republic of Korea relations, the development on the Korean peninsula and in the Northeast Asia region, the present economic crisis, the climate change and development cooperation.

Jan KohoutThe EU delegation was lead by the President Václav Klaus. The European Commission was represented by its President José Manuel Barroso, Trade Commissioner Catherine Margaret Ashton and the Commissioner for External Relations and Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner.

The delegation of the Republic of Korea was lead by the President Lee Myung-bak.

The Agreement concerning cooperation on anti-competitive activities between EU and Republic of Korea was signed during the proceedings. The document was signed on behalf of the EU by the Commissioner Ferrero-Waldner and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout.
