Minister Jan Kohout opens up Czech investmens in Zambia

Zambia is interesting in in Czech investmens to its developing economy and infrastructure. It results from a meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Zambia Kabinga Pande and President of Zambia Rupiah Banda.

Minister Kohout opened a businessmen conference in Lusaka focused on support of economic interests of the Czech Republic in Zambia.

Zambia belongs among priority countries of Czech development aid. Minister Jan Kohout visited a future Czech centre and museum of history and culture of an ethnic group Tonga in Choma funded by means of the Czech development cooperation.  He attended an opening ceremony of a new drinking water well funded by the Czech Republic. "Water is life. It applies especially to Africa.“, said Kohout.

Minister Kohout opened an exhibition "Crocodile tears or Lozi royal society of the 19th century as seen by Emil Holub" in Livingstone. Emil Holub, a 19th century Czech explorer, "discovered" Sub-Saharan Africa to Czech public. He spent 12 years there and published the first systematic map of the Victoria Falls and a sorrounding area of Zambezi river.

The visit of Jan Kohout in Zambia was a first visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in Zambia in 31 years.
