Minister Kohout approved granting of projects of humanitarian aid

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout approved granting of ten humanitarian projects from a humanitarian budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 25, 2010. An amount of 18 mil. CZK is aimed on countries stricken by longterm humanitarian crisis.

Non governmental organization ADRA will continue, with a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a reconstruction of homes of peasants stricken by Cyclone Nargis in Burma in 2008. In Sri Lanka ADRA will focus on aid to orphans and elderly people in homes fro refugees. ADRA will ensure water supply and reconstruction of kitchens and bathrooms.

Archdiocesan Charity Prague will help in a reconstruction of recources of living to refugees in Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.

Non governmental organization People In Need will continuein a help to victims of sexual violence in the East of Democratic Republic of the Congo, with an ephasis on activation of local communities for support of raped women and children. In Ethiopia People In Need will focus on adaption of peasants to periodic droughts in Somali Region.
