Minister Kohout visits Israel

 

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout attended an opening of the Czech Centre in Tel Aviv and an opening of the exhibition The Jews in Battle and in the Resistance on the first day of his official visit to the Israel.

The main goal of the Czech Centre Tel Aviv is a presentation of Czech culture, traditions and values to people in Israel. The Czech Centre aims to contribute to development and deepening of relations between the Czech Republic and Israel in areas of culture and society in general.

Minister Kohout visited the Beit Terezin Museum in kibbutz Givat Chaim Ihud which commemorates victims of the Terezin ghetto in the World War II. Minister handed over a financial gift of the Government of the Czech Republic in an amount of 1 mil. CZK to the museum. The amount is aimed on enhancing of collections and activities of the Beit Terezin Museum and on preservation of Terezin ghetto memory in Israel and in abroad.
