A closer cooperation between the Czech Republic and Poland with an emphasis on security, economic cooperation and current EU issues was discussed by Foreign Ministers Jan Kohout and Radoslaw Sikorski in Bydgoszcz. Ministers signed a memorandum on cooperation between both Ministries of Foreign Affairs. The memorandum agreed on renewing the activity of Czech-Polish Forum and more intense jonit using of embassies building in countries where either the Czech Republic or Poland does not operate its own building.

Minister Sikorski marked Czech-Polish bilateral relations to be the best ever. Minister Kohout added the excellent level of the bilateral relations to be the result of long lasting hard work. A cooperation in a current flood disaster which affected Poland and Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic can be used as an example of the excellent level of Czech-Polish bilateral relations. Just before the visit to Poland minister Kohout visited Ostrava to find out personally about a joint coordination of salvage operations.
