Minister Kohout approved humanitarian aid to Poland and Hungary

 

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout approved granting humanitarian aid to Poland and Hungary on June 4, 2010. Humanitarian aid in an amount of 5 mil. CZK is applied for relief of current flood in the Central Europe.

Regarding demands of both countries 5 bulk pumps and 100 000 flood protection bags are provided to Poland and Hungary respectively. The humanitarian aid is distributed by the General Management of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic and financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

Presumably it is the last humanitarian activity of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs in the Central Europe. From July 1, 2010 the Act Nr. 151/2010, on foreign development cooperation and humanitarian aid in abroad, will come into operation. According to the Act humanitarian aid for EU and EEA area will be put in charge of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, humanitarian aid for the rest of the world in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
