Minister Schwarzenberg opens a conference on Burma

First deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg and former Czech President Václav Havel will open conference "Elections in Burma/Myanmar and European Policy" at the Czernin Palace on Tuesday, February 15, 2011. The conference is held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic with non-governmental organization People in Need.
Representatives of Burma opposition, member states of the European Union and non-governmental organizations will discuss European position to Burma after Parliamentary elections which were held in November 2010, the first ones after 20 years. The main issues of the conference are: What will the post-election political situation in Burma look like? Has the country made any progress towards democracy and respect for human rights? What should be the policy of the European Union towards Burma/Myanmar in light of the recent developments?
Journalists are welcomed at the opening of the conference which will be brodcasted by CT 24.
