The Czech Republic offered aid to Japan just a few hours after an eatrhquake, having put a special rescue team on emergency status. Japan specified its need during this week regarding a complicated and still changing situation. Japan has expected a coordinated approach of the European Union which does not burden current capacities of the stricken country. Besides material aid (blankets, futons, packed drinking water, cans, inflatable boats). Japan welcomes financial support, especially provided by means of the Red Cross which helps a lot to disaster stricken people. The aid provided by the Czech Republic respects priorities of Japan.

A part of approved financial means is aimed on material aid which will be coordinated in the frame of the European Union. A coordination team of the European Union left to Tokyo today, led by a Czech expert from the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic which will secure distribution of aid. According to priorities of Japan, remaining means are aimed on other urgent needs of people in stricken areas provided by the Red Cross.
