Minister Schwarzenberg met Minister of Human Rights of Iraq

 

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg met Minister of Human Rights of Iraq Mohammeda Shyaa Sabbar Al Sudani at the Czernin Palace on July 19, 2011 at the Czernin Palace.

Karel Schwarzenberg a Mohammed Al SudaniMinister Al Sudani accomplished a visit to the Czech Republic with focus on Czech experience in dealing with totalitarian past, the documentation and commemoration of the crimes of past regimes in particular. Issue of dealing with totalitarian regime of Saddam Hussein is a priority for minister Al Sudani

During its stay the Iraqi delegation completed a series of interviews and visits to the mentioned issue, in the National Archive, the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, War Memorial at Pribram and Lidice Memorial. Meetings with Ombudsman, Dr. Pavel Varvařovský and Government Agent for Human Rights, Mgr. Monica Šimůnková were on schedule too.

Because of a post-communist transformation experience in previous twenty years the Czech Republic is an inspiring country for a number of countries in transformation process, even for the remote and culturally distinct ones. Support for democracy and human rights is an integral part of the Czech foreign policy.
