Minister Schwarzenberg visited the State of Florida

 

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg visited Miami, Florida on September 18 - 19.

Minister Schwarzenberg launched business forum in Beacon Council, agency supporting economic development of Miami Dade. He met the U.S. Representative for Florida and member of the Republican Party Mario Diaz-Balart and his brother, former U.S. Representative for Florida Lincoln Diaz-Balart. They discussed a support of economic cooperation between the Czech Republic and Miami Dade, trade with Latin America in particular. US - Cuba relations and activities of Cuban exile in Florida were discussed too.

Minister Schwarzenberg met Chairperson of United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. The meeting was focused on current issues and outlook of Czech - US relations.

Later, the Minister held a speech titled "Arab Spring" at the Florida International University.

Minister Schwarzenberg took part at a reception held by E. Perez, attended by Cuban exile groups on Sunday, September 18.

On September 19, he met the chairman and representatives of Cuba Study Group and ilater that night he left for New York to attend 66th Session of the UN General Assembly.
