Deputy Minister Schneider in Georgia

 

On May 14, 2012, Mr. Schneider started his programme opening a seminar on public administration reform. The five day seminar is already the third one organized by the Czech Foreign Ministry for experts from six Eastern European countries in the framework of the Eastern Partnership.

A wide array of bilateral, EU and NATO topics was flagged at meetings with Deputy Foreign Ministers of Georgia Nikoloz Vashakidze and Tornike Gordadze and with Deputy State Minister for European and Euroatlantic Cooperation Elene Khoshtaria. Trade relations and especially investment projects of Czech companies dominated bilateral parts of discussion.

Security issues were thoroughly discussed at the meeting with the Secretary of the National Security Council Giga Bokeria. The debate concentrated on the NATO Summit in Chicago, regional security issues, bilateral cooperation in the fight against organized crime and situation in Georgian judiciary and penitentiary systems.

At the meeting with Deputy Minister for Reintegration Irakli Porchkhidze situation in the separtist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and the ways to engage them were assessed.
