New Issue of the Visegrad Insight: The Rise and Fall of Middle Class

 

The second issue of Visegrad Insight “Rise and Fall of Middle Class” launches this September in print and on-line at www.visegradinsight.eu.

In an attempt to portrait the middle class in Central Europe, renowned academics, writers and intellectuals from the region and beyond discuss its roots and possible scenarios for the future. Street protesters and bank executives, literary awards recipients and aspiring political representatives of the contemporary middle classes are all in focus.

In this issue: Péter Nádas questions the links of middle class and democracy. The U.S.-based intelligence unit Stratfor reports on geopolitical outcomes of bank acquisition in the region. Rudolf Chmel examines the conditions of solidarity in times of crisis. Timothy Garton Ash discusses the horizons of European imagination. Plus an extensive coverage on the relations with the USA and China, Central European book awards overview and much more.

Visegrad Insight is a new analysis and opinion journal from and about Central Europe. Published by the Res Publica Foundation in Warsaw and led by accomplished editors from the Visegrad Group countries. It is printed semiannually in English in 6,000 copies and it is also available on-line at www.visegradinsight.eu. The journal is accompanied by a weekly-updated webzine titled Visegrad Revue published by EUROPEUM Prague and available at www.visegradrevue.eu. The project is made possible through a grant from the International Visegrad Fund.
