Humanitarian Aid for Refugees from Syria

In relation to the continuing conflict in Syria, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Kohout has approved another tranche of Czech Republic´s humanitarian aid.

Contributing 5 mil CZK, the Czech Republic will support Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries, particularly in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq. Out of this amount, CZK 1.5 million will be provided via the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to meet needs of Palestinian refugees fleeing from Syria mostly to Lebanon.

The remaining funds will be disbursed via the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) towards the basic needs of more than 1.75 mil Syrian refugees, present in neighbouring countries.

Throughout 2012 and 2013, in connection with the conflict in Syria, the Czech Republic has provided humanitarian aid of CZK 39,4 million in total; part of which has distributed directly in Syria and a great part to refugees in neighbouring countries.
