Minister Schwarzenberg met participants of the Václav Havel Journalism Fellowship

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg met with three young journalists from Armenia (Seda Stepanyan), Azerbaijan (Tahmina Taghiyeva) and Moldova (Irina Gotisan), who have been selected as the participants of the first regular class of the Václav Havel Journalism Fellowship, at the Czernin Palace. The discussion was focused on reflection of the recent shape of the program, as well as on current foreign policy issues.

The program Václav Havel Journalism Fellowship was established in 2011, on the basis of a joint initiative of the Czech and U.S. side and the RFE/RL. Its aim is to promote young journalists from the RFE/RL’s broadcast region, namely from the countries of the Eastern Partnership, and simultaneously to commemorate the legacy of the RFE/RL and Václav Havel. A pilot project, a fellowship for the Belarusian journalist Franak Viačorka, which was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, concluded last summer, and a full-scale scholarship scheme is currently being implemented.
