Conference: The Prague Agenda in 2013 – Challenges and Prospects

(This article expired 31.08.2014.)

Date: 06.09.2013 , Venue: Prague, Czernin Palace

The international conference will be held on 6 September, 2013 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Institute of International Relations would like to invite you to attend the conference

on Friday, September 6, 9:00 - 12:30, Great Hall, Czernin Palace, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Loretánské nám. 5, Prague 1

In the past few years, Prague hosted two major international security events. First, in April 2009 US president Obama announced in Prague his long-term nuclear disarmament vision. A year later, US president Obama and Russian president Medvedev crowned the process of bilateral US-Russian nuclear arms control talks by signing the new START Treaty. Following these two historical events Prague has established itself as a venue for discussion and taking stock of related issues. The ‘Prague Security Agenda’, as it started to be called, aims at covering and linking together the areas of disarmament, arms control, non-proliferation and nuclear security and placing them into a broader strategic context.

The aim of our conference, organised this year for the third time, is to assess the results of recent non-proliferation and arms control events as well as to develop on new initiatives which were presented by major players recently.
