The Czech Foreign Ministry to host Commissioner Füle´s talks with Political Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Date: 02.12.2013 , Venue: Prague, Czernin Palace

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is to host a meeting of Stefan Füle, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policies and representatives of political parties from Bosnia and Herzegovina on 2 December, 2013.

The talks are aimed at reaching an agreement on changes to the electoral system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, necessary for the implementation of the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the Sejdić-Finci case. According to this ruling, Bosnia and Herzegovina must guarantee the right to be elected to the collective presidency and the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to all citizens, regardless of their ethnicity. Failure to implement the Sejdić-Finci ruling is an obstacle to Bosnia and Herzegovina's progress in the EU integration process.

By hosting this meeting, the Czech Republic contributes to the solution of the problem and to the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the path to the EU, following the Czech Republic´s foreign policy priorities.
