Statement of the MFA of the Czech Republic on the withdrawal of the DPRK from the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
22.01.2003 / 08:27
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic has received with much concern the report on the withdrawal of the DPRK from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. It shares the view that this serious step by the North Korean government complicates even more the already tense situation on the Korean peninsula.
The Czech Republic joins the international community in its call
on the DPRK to reconsider its decision to withdraw from the NPT
Treaty and to continue to meet the conditions of the international
nuclear arms control and to seek a constructive and diplomatic
solution to the nuclear issue through talks with its partners.
