The MFA welcomes the approval of the Iraqi Constitution in Referendum as a crucial step of Iraqi people on the way to democracy, stability and prosperity.

The MFA especially appreciates, that this key decision was made by a high number of participating voters in elections which were in accordance with democratic standards.

The MFA believes that the approval of the Constitution, the Parliamentary elections scheduled for December this year and the creation of an Iraqi Government according to all principles of parliamentary democracy will enable a progressive ensurance of security for all Iraqi citizens and an acceleration of the economic reconstruction of the country.

The MFA believes that also those Iraqis who refused the Constitution draft in the Referendum, will remain active participants to the political process in the country and will use democratic means for the expression of their opinions.

The Czech Republic is determined to continue to provide, in the framework of its capacities, aid to Iraq on its way to democracy, stability and prosperity.
