The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic takes into account the resignation of the Lebanese Government of Umar Karami, presented to the Parliament on 28th February 2005.
The MFA of the CR considers the resignation of the Lebanese Government an appropriate solution of the political crisis, which resulted from the recent attack against former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. The MFA of the CR believes that the future development will lead to the fulfilment of the aspirations of the Lebanese society to achieve freedom, independence and sovereignty of the country in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution n.1559. The Czech Republic demands an investigation of the tragical attack and the withdrawal of all foreign military troops from the country.
The undisturbed manifestations and the responsible approach of
the army are a confirmation of the maturity of the Lebanese
society, refusing the renewal of disputes that would bring the
country back into the tragical past.
