The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic congratulates the United Iraqi Alliance on the victory in elections to the provisional National Assembly and all the other successfull candidates, who gained the trust of Iraqi citizens. The MFA of the CR also highly appreciates those candidates, who did not succeed in the elections, but contributed, risking their lives, to the legitimate development of the elections and to the strenghtening of confidence in principles of democracy in the country.

The real winner of the elections is the Iraqi people, who confirmed by participating in high numbers, its determination to take over the administration of the country and to contribute to the building of a stable, democratic and prosperous Iraq.

The MFA of the CR wishes the United Iraqi Alliance, the strongest political body in the country, success in the dialogue with other parties and political bodies, in the democratisation process started by the elections in January, and especially in composing the Government and creating the Constitution. It is the belief of the MFA of the CR, that Iraqi Sunni representatives will also take part in this process.
