Statement of the MFA on the So Called „Presidential Elections“ in Transnistria (Republic of Moldova)

On 10th December 2006, so called „Presidential Elections“ took place in Transnistria (Republic of Moldova).The opinion of the Czech Republic is that in Transnistria there are currently no conditions for the free expression of the people´s will. The Czech Republic therefore does not recognize the organisation, the running and the results of the so called „Presidential Elections“.(13/12/2006)
On 10th December 2006, so called "Presidential Elections" took place in Transnistria (Republic of Moldova).
The opinion of the Czech Republic is that in Transnistria there are currently no conditions for the free expression of the people´s will. The Czech Republic therefore does not recognize the organisation, the running and the results of the so called " Presidential Elections". The elections were not organised by central authorities of Moldova and are in contradiction with the principles of sovereignty and territorial unity of the Republic of Moldova.
The Czech Republic supports the sovereignty and territorial
unity of the Republic of Moldova within the internationaly
recognised borders. The Czech Republic supports the international
effort aimed at solving the crisis in Transnistria. The so called "
Presidential Elections" did not contribute to the effort of the
international community.
