The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic strongly condemns the terrorist attacks committed on Monday, 24th April in the center of the city of Dahab and expresses condolences to the relatives of the victims.

The MFA of the CR believes that the perpetrators of these bloody and unjustifiable attacks will be brought to justice and sentenced according to law. Any attack of this kind must lead the international community to the strengthening of international cooperation aimed at the eradication of terrorism.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cyril Svoboda was informed about the attacks during his working visit to Canada. As a symbol of solidarity with the affected people, Minister Svoboda immediately contacted Egyptian Ambassador in Canada and expressed his indignation over the terrorist attacks and his sorrow over the lost human lives. Minister Svoboda also gave support to the efforts of the Egyptian Government in the fight against terrorism. After his return to the Czech Republic, Minister Svoboda addressed a letter of condolence to the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The MFA of the CR, with regard to these attacks, advises Czech citizens higher caution during visits to Egypt, particularly to the Sinai Peninsula.
