Statement of the MFA on the Current Situation in Lebanon

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic condemns all attempts to undermine stability in Lebanon. In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the violent actions of extremist groups operating in Lebanon, namely the attacks by the Fatah al-Islam group against the Lebanese army and civilians, including Palestinian refugees, inhabitants of the Nahr al-Bared camp, who were forced to flee their homes as a result of the fighting.(26/6/2007)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic condemns
all attempts to undermine stability in Lebanon. In particular, the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the violent actions of
extremist groups operating in Lebanon, namely the attacks by the
Fatah al-Islam group against the Lebanese army and civilians,
including Palestinian refugees, inhabitants of the Nahr al-Bared
camp, who were forced to flee their homes as a result of the
fighting.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs fully supports the efforts of
the government of Prime Minister Fuad Siniora to strenghten
security and stability in the entire territory of Lebanon. The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the adoption of UN Security
Council Resolution 1757 establishing a Special Tribunal for
Lebanon, and supports the implementation of all other relevant
resolutions of the UN Security Council.
The Czech Republic has responded to the urgent calls of the
Lebanese Prime Minister and UNRWA, and provided CZK three million
as relief assistance to Palestinian refugees affected by the
fighting in and around the Nahr al-Bared camp.
