The MFA closely observes and evaluates the elections process. The preliminary results indicate, that the development in Russia after the elections will be in the expected direction, under the influence of political forces representing the interests of the current administration in the Kremlin.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, without
anticipating the final results of the elections, states that the
elections in the Russian Federation do not meet the criteria of
free and fair approach. The Russian authorities did not allow the
OSCE to observe the elections independently, and the election
campaign did not proceed according to democratic standards, which
was confirmed by the inadequate intervention of Russian state
authorities againts opposition forces. The future composition of
the Russian Parliament will therefore remain in the shadow of
doubts concerning the circumstances of this composition.
