On January 30, 2013, the UN donor conference to help Syria took place in Kuwait. The Czech Republic was represented by Daniel Koštoval, Director General of the Section of Non-European countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2012, the Czech Republic contributed to the humanitarian aid for the conflict-affected population inside Syria as well as for Syrian refugees in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. More than 20 % of the annual humanitarian aid budget, or 20.5 mio CzK, were committed to these needs. In addition, two MEDEVAC operations (Medical evacuations) were arranged for Syrian refugees, both children with congenital heart defects and adults with conflict-related injuries, in cooperation with the authorities in Jordan.
In 2013, the Czech Republic is ready to continue its contribution to the global efforts with similar amounts, targets and implementing partners.
