The First Deputy Foreign Minister Jiří Schneider visited Sweden

The First Deputy Foreign Minister Jiří Schneider visited Sweden on 7 June 2012. He was received by the Minister for EU Affaires Mrs. Birgitta Ohlsson and hold the consultations with his Swedish counterpart, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Mr. Frank Belfrage.
He had also meeting with the Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Swedish Parliament Riksdag Mrs. Sofia Arkelsten and met the State Secretary of the Swedish Prime Minister Mrs. Katarina Areskoug Mascarenhas. Mr. Schneider has discussed the current foreign policy issues also with the Chairman of the Governing Board of SIPRI Mr. Göran Lennmark, and with the Program Director of SIPRI Mr. Ian Anthony.
There were discussed the possibilities of the further bilateral cooperation and possible cooperation between Visegrád Group countries and Nordic countries, the foreign policy agenda of the mutual interest, e.g. transatlantic relations, security agenda, incl. the development in Afghanistan, also agenda of the Enlargement of the European Union, further the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans agenda. Further the Middle East agenda and South Caucasus developments were discussed. The Partners have talked about the preparation of both countries for upcoming meeting of the European Council in June as well.
The visit in Sweden has shown how similar views both countries have in many questions and at the same has shown the potentials for the bilateral cooperation, incl. the area of foreign policy, trade policy and in the area of scientific and technological cooperation.
