Statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karel Schwarzenberg, on the death of Wilman Villar Mendoza

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic expresses his deep sorrow at the recent and tragic death of the imprisoned Cuban dissident Wilman Villar Mendoza, and sends his sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased.

Czechs regret every loss of life of those, who as Jan Palach and Jan Zajíc, sacrificed their lives for values as human rights, personal dignity and political freedom. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic wishes to pay his respect to the family and people of Cuba.
