The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic devoted much attention to the elections preparation in Georgia. The Czech Republic sent to Georgia a large team of election observers, operating within the OSCE observer mission, whose aim was to monitor elections compliance with international standards. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs repeatedly and at various levels transmitted to the Georgian government officials and the representatives of the opposition the standpoint of the Czech Republic, that it is the duty of all political forces in the country to ensure peaceful and democratic elections, while underlying their extraordinary importance.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard highly appreciated that the leaders of all major political groupings have confirmed that they would respect the elections results and would actively pursue their political supporters to do the same.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects such an approach from Georgia's political leaders now and believes that the post-election developments in Georgia will be based on full compliance with the current constitutional framework. Citizens of Georgia decided in free and democratic elections the future direction of Georgia and it is now up to them to respect the choice of the majority of voters.
