Resolution of the Czech Senate on 20 years of freedom

December 2009 the Senate of the Czech Parliament has adopted a resolution on the 20th anniversary of the country´s freedom. The resolution thanks to all Czech communities around the world for their support in the motherland´s struggle for freedom and appraciates their loyalty and existing ties with their homeland

Pre - Christmas garden party at the Czech Embassy

The Czech Embassy together with the Chin Refugees Centre in KL prepared a garden party, where the Czech Community celebrated upcoming Christmas together with a group of Burmese children, they prepared a short cultural performance as well.

International Children Art Competition Lidice ´09 Awards presented

Award giving ceremony to the Malaysian Winners of 37th International Children Art Competition Lidice 2009 took place at the National Art Gallery of Malaysia Tuesday, December 1. Ceremony was organized by the Czech Embassy and the National Art Gallery. Nine Malaysian sudents have been awarded by Honorary Mention. Mohamed Sobri Izuan of Shah Alam won the main award the Rose of Lidice. Congratulations to the winners.

Czech Embassy among the donors of a new Burmese school

Opening ceremony of a new school for Burmese children took place in Setapak on Saturday 7th November. The Czech Embassy with the UNHCR and others was among the donors of the school, which will provide elementary education for more than 30 Burmese refugee kids. The UNHCR, the Malaysia Mizo Community, the Aliance of Chin Refugees, Catholic Churches, Czech Embassy representatives attended the opening ceremony.

EU Film Festival 2009 in KL

The 10th EU Film Festival in KL November 12-22 will present succesful films from 15 European countries. Venues: Golden Screen Cinemas in Mid Valley, 1 Utama and Pavilion. Czech companies on the Sarawak International Energy Week

The three day event November 3/5 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching is to be hosted by the state government and supported by the Sarawak Convention Bureau. Two Czech companies are participating there.

Speaker of the Senate of the Malaysian Parliament on official visit to the CZ

The Speaker of the Senate of the Malaysian Parliament Dato Ir Wong Foon Meng will officially visit the Czech Republic November 7/10. His counterpart visited Malaysia in 2006.

Working visit of Mr. Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz to the CZ

Minister in the Prime Minister´s Department Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz visited the CZ October 11/13. Delivery of Czech technologies for crises management and civil defence, tour of Tatra Kopřivnice company, visit of the Prague Crises Management Operation Centre and meeting with the Czech trade and industry minister have been included into his programme.

Czech participation on the EU AsiaInvest programme

The 2. round of the EU Asia Invest programme of the Europe Meets Asia project took place in KL, October 28/29 in KL. The CZ was represented by the Czech Chamber of Commerce and three other companies.

October 38th World Congress of Militiary Medicine in KL

A delegation of the Czech Defense Ministry headed by general brigadier Pavel Zboril, Director of the Military Medicine Department and the Chief of the Military Medicine Service, will arrive to participate on the conference.

Czech Ambassador presented his Letter of Credence in the PNG

On July 14 the Czech Ambassador in Malaysia presented his Letter of Credence as a nonresidential Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby.

Czech humanitarian aid

The mobile clinic financed by the Czech government and operated by Mercy Malaysia will continue third year to deliver basic health services to the migrant communities in need expecially in the state of Johor. An MOU has been signed on this between the UNHCR, Mercy and Czech Embassy on March 26 in KL.

Burmese refugees to the CZ

A n other group of 16 Burma refugees arrived in Prague from Malaysia first week February. Last October some 23 Burmese refugees have been transferred to the country as part of the refugee resettlement programme adopted by the Czech government in June 2008.

Study in the Heart of Europe

There are many study programmes in the Czech Republic available in English. Tuition fees as well as daily costs are reasonable. Currently there are 230 students from Malaysia in the CZ. Come and join them.
