Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Malaysia Rudolf Hykl presented on February 7th, 2014 to the Executive Director of Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Ambassador Zhang Yan an appointment letter of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, by which he has assumed a position of the Governor for the Czech Republic in the Board of Governors of ASEF.

Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) was established in 1997 by the partners of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), which is an informal dialogue process among Heads of Governments currently representing 49 countries, plus the ASEAN Secretariat and the European Commission.
The main goal of ASEF is to advance mutual understanding and collaboration between the people of Asia and Europe through intellectual, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges. The Czech Republic has become partner of the Singapore based ASEF after its joining of the European Union in 2004. ASEF activities cover the areas of governance and human rights, economy and society, sustainable development and environment, public health, arts and culture and academic co-operation and education.
