On the occasion of the opening of the new community centre in Slough, the Czech Ambassador Libor Sečka opened an exhibition of the works of Alexander Sadlo, an artist of Czech origin. Alexander Sadlo personally introduced a selection of his best “musical” paintings of the past 25 years.
The exhibition named “Concert on Canvas” was opened on 24 January 2017 by a speech delivered by Ambassador Libor Sečka who not only praised Sadlo’s works, but primarily his personal integrity. He emphasised the significance of international cultural cooperation, represented by Mr Sadlo, as it forms one of the main pillars of current international relations. As a tribute to Alexander Sadlo, Czech opera singer Lucie Kankova later performed a selection of arias composed by several prominent Czech composers. The event concluded with a symbolic launch of a new website which introduces Mr Sadlo’s work to the general public. The link for the website can be found here: http://alexsadlo.co.uk/
Alexander Sadlo (*1927) is a professional artist. He has been painting since his early childhood in the 1930's in Czechoslovakia, from where he later emigrated. He uses a great diversity of media, such as oil painting, collage, ceramic, glass enamel, stone carving and jewellery. The exhibition shows an exclusive selection of his large paintings that capture musicians playing their instruments. Mr Sadlo is especially interested in trying to represent movement in his paintings and the movement of musicians makes a very interesting subject for him.
