The London premiere of the documentary Lidice – A Light across the Sea which was held at the Czech Embassy on June 20. The event was organised by the Embassy and the film-makers from Inspired Film and Video. Among the distinguished guests of the evening were Ambassador Michael Žantovský, Tristram Hunt, MP for Stoke-on-Trent, and deputy Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Counsellor Mr Majid Khan.

On June 9 1942, a small Czech village of Lidice was wiped off the face of earth in one of the worst atrocities of the Second World War. Deeply affected by the news of the tragedy, Sir Barnett Stross, member of the British Parliament for Stoke-on-Trent, launched the „Lidice Shall Live" movement that saw the local miners and workers collect and raise funds to rebuild Lidice. A documentary film Lidice - a Light across the Sea tells the story of this extraordinary movement.
