In the footsteps of Czechoslovak public diplomacy in the 40s

On 15 March 2017 Ambassador Libor Sečka with his wife Sabrina went to Somerset, to pay a visit to Mrs. Anna Allott, a 86-year-old British lady with a very close relationship to the Czech Republic.

Mrs. Allott had a Czech mother who was, during the Second World War, assigned by the then Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czechoslovakia to the Embassy of the Czechoslovak Republic in London with a mandate to represent and promote her native country in the UK. Mrs. Allott had many valuable historical materials, books and photographs from that time, which she has now decided to donate to the Czech Embassy in the UK. Ambassador Sečka cordially thanked Mrs Allott and assured her that the Czech Embassy very much appreciates all the materials provided and that they will be carefully cherished and used for the Embassy´s diplomatic goals with dignity and pride.

At the end of the meeting Ambassador Sečka and his wife thanked Mrs. Allot for the very warm welcome to her house and the fascinating talk they had and wished her good health and strength in the coming years.
