On May 6 – 7, Ambassador Michael Žantovský visited Scotland. During his visit he met with the First Minister of Scotland, Mr Alex Salmond; with the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Mr Donald Wilson, and with the Vice-President of the Scottish Parliament, Mrs Elaine Smith. In the evening the Czech Ambassador organised a dinner in honour of Dr. Paul Millar, the general honorary consul of the Czech Republic in Edinburgh, who recently celebrated an important anniversary.
During a courtesy meeting with the Lord Provost of Edinburgh Mr Donald Wilson, Ambassador Žantovský discussed the problems of transport, infrastructure, services and the environment. Both agreed on the possibilities of cooperation between Edinburgh and Prague in joint projects.
One of the major themes of discussion with the First Minister of Scotland Mr Alex Salmond was a potential of economic and investment cooperation, especially in the area of modern technologies.
